In this special episode, I have a conversation with a panel of three guests who inspired, clarified and motivated. The skill set quality professionals can bring to the table when they are aware and understand how to include requirements for social, environmental and economic sustainability are great.

Martin Neureiter
Born in Salzburg/Austria in 1961. Law studies in Salzburg, Vienna and London (London School of Economics).
Since October 2004 founder and CEO of “The CSR Company international”, a consultancy specialised on Corporate Social Responsibility, with offices on four continents and 43 countries, reaching from Mexico to Korea.
He is Chair of the Implementation Task Group within ISO (International Standards Organisation) Working Group Social Responsibility writing the ISO 26 000 standard – published November 2010. He also chairs the ISO 26000 Stakeholders Global Network (SGN) which is the follow-up organisation of the Working Group.
He is Program Director at the Ferdinand Porsche University for the newly established MBA in “international CSR Management”, the first fully distant learning MBA in this field. He also lectures at the St. Gallen Management Institute (Switzerland) and coaches at CEO level.
Mag Neureiter is the author of several books on CSR, such as “Corporate Social Responsibility – Leitlinien und Konzepte im Management der gesellschaftlichenVerantwortung von Unternehmen” published 2004, which was the first German language book on the issue and “Handbuch Corporate Citizenship” published 2007. He is also the author of a guidance book on how to implement CSR – together with the Austrian Standards Institute, that has been translated into 6 languages so far.
He worked on national CSR strategies for Cyprus and Qatar together with highest ranking politicians. Further he works with Dubai Government on the implementation of ISO 26000 in government agencies such as RTA (Road and Transport Authority). He has co-deleveloped the global CSR approach for UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation) and developed a number of CSR programs for the EU Commission. Additionally he advises a number of companies worldwide such as Marks & Spencer in their global supply chain, Qatar Government in preparation of the Fifa 2022 Football Worldcup, ADNOC(Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), Nordea (largest Scandinavian bank) in their social responsible supply-chain management, Vivacell/MTS Mobile phone and others.
In 2019 Martin Neureiter was named as one of the 100 most influential CSR Leaders globally by the United Nations. Similarly a few months later he was named as one of 25 top CSR Thinkers in India, as only non Indianperson.
Nina Abbassi
Nina Abbassi is an international Trainer, Consultant and Auditor. She is a fellow member of the CQI with over 30 years of experience in quality management and business improvement, and over 22 years of experience in Environmental Management and Social Responsibility. In 1998 Nina became one of the first lead auditors in the UK to audit the Social Accountability Standard SA8000. She audited organisations on behalf of SGS for compliance with SA8000, and took part in SGS verification of non-financial reporting. She became a member of the institute of Social and Ethical Accountability in 2001 and since then she has contributed to several national and international Standards as expert and Committee Member, including the BSI committees for ISO 9001(Quality Management system), BS8900 (Managing Sustainable Development), ISO 26000 (Guidance for Social Responsibility) and some of its sub-committees, and very recently BS99001 (Quality Management in the Built Environment- code of practice). Example of Nina’s clients for “Sustainability” work include ETI (Ethical Trading Initiative) and MSC (Marine Stewardship Council), and detailed review of SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit).
Nina was invited and will be joining an ISO Strategic Advisory Group aimed with reviewing how ISO helps organisations with their ESG responsibilities.
Through her experience with both Quality and Sustainability, Nina has a clear vision of how getting quality right, first time, contributes to sustainable development, and how quality failures can ultimately adversely impact Sustainable Development goals.
Mark Mc Namara
A Chartered Quality Professional who provides organisations the support they need to drive assurance and improvement in the sectors of construction and manufacturing. Mark is an active volunteer on the London Committee for the Chattered Quality Institute. He chaired the committee for the initial period of its inception, and supported the hosting and delivery of events to Quality Professionals across the city. Now based in Ireland, Mark continues to support the committee by bringing virtual events to the global community.
